Lista Social Wit: November 2018

TV Globo’s fantasy telenovela O Sétimo Guardião stirred up the most social media buzz of all the new programs that launched across Latin America last month, according to The WIT.

With 54,000 Facebook and Twitter comments during the premiere episode, O Sétimo Guardião had viewers #LovingTheCreepyVibe and #DelightfulSoundtrack. Some thought #MaybeItIsTooScary while others gave #KudosToActressMarinaRuyBarbosa.

Netflix’s release of Super Drags, a Brazilian adult animated series, generated some 18,000 tweets. Social media commenters were #LovingTheGayEmpowermentVibe of the #Hilarious show, which they wanted more of: #WhyOnlyFiveEpisodes.

Netflix also made the list with Vai Anitta, a docureality series that follows the everyday life of Brazilian singer-songwriter-digital influencer Anitta. There were some 9,000 tweets, with much #Fangasm from the audience #InTears and #ProudOfHerWork. Many found her to be relatable and fun: #IWantAnittaAsMyFriend.

BIOS. Vidas que marcaron la tuya on Nat Geo in Latin America saw around 5,000 tweets. The cultural docureality series, which spotlights iconic rock singers from the Latin American continent, had comments about the #FascinatingLifePath featured in the #OriginalCrossInterviewFormat that had #GreatProductionValues.

Canal 13 in Chile debuted the novela La reina de Franklin, about a woman of modest origins who becomes a successful entrepreneur, to around 3,000 tweets. Fans were #LovingIt with the #LightHearted vibe and strong leading cast: #JavieraContadorIsKillingIt.

In Brazil, the debut of 1 por todos on Rede Band saw some 2,000 Facebook and Twitter comments. People were touting the business competition’s #CreativeConcept and #InnovativeAndTalentedPeople it features. They championed its diversity (#YesToADiverseCast) and were excited to see people thriving in launching a product or service (#EntrepreneurshipAtItsBest).

Also in Brazil, Autênticas: As Rainhas da Música on GNT drummed up much buzz, with around 1,000 tweets for the documentary series that looks at the life and career of several renowned singers. Viewers tweeting about the show were #InLoveWithAllTheDivas and #TalentedWomen and noted the #GreatInsightOnMyFavoriteSingersLives.

Canal Once in Mexico debuted Malinche to around 1,000 tweets as well. The biographical/historical series about the iconic character of “La Malinche” had #GreatHistoricalDocumentation and the audience was #Hooked with the #AmazingProductionValues despite that it was #ImpossibleToReadTheSubtitles.

The biopic drama Nicky Jam: El Ganador on Netflix had around 800 social media comments from people enjoying learning more about the reggaeton singer/songwriter: #LovingToKnowMoreAboutMyIdol, #WhatALifePath and #CongratulationsForYourAchievements.

On TVN in Chile, the 1950s-set Casa de Angelis, about two sisters who took over the management of a famous haute couture house after the death of their father, saw some 700 tweets. There was much buzz about the #TalentedCast from viewers who had #BeenWaiting2YearsForThisPremiere. Some found the #GreatHistoricalPortrayal to be #ABitSlowPaced.
