Brazilian Novela Órfãos da Terra Tops LatAm Social Media

Órfãos da Terra, a telenovela about a family of Syrian refugees who flee the war and settle in Brazil, tops the list of the most buzzed about new premieres on social media in LatAm, according to The WIT.

The TV Globo novela, which garnered around 11,000 comments on Facebook and Twitter, had viewers #Hooked with its #HighProductionValues, #GreatSoundTrack and #StrongAndRealisticPlot.

Record TV’s Jezabel, about the Phoenician princess whose story is told in the Book of Kings, saw around 7,000 tweets, with the #ImpressivePerformanceByTheMainActress drawing kudos, as did the #BeautifulStory.

The local adaptation of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? on Telefe in Argentina drew #MixedFeelings among its nearly 2,000 social media comments. Some pointed out the #TooEasyQuestions and that it was #TooStaged, while others said it was a #GreatFormat and #FunWatch.

Guerreros, el Clásico de los Andes: Colombia Vs Perú, a spin-off of the local adaptation of the format Esto es Guerra, debuted on Canal 1 in Colombia to around 2,000 tweets as well. Viewers were feeling the love (and #RootingForMyFavTeam) for the #EntertainingShow, which had #GreatFaceOffs.

Top Chef Brasil on Record TV saw some 1,000 Facebook and Twitter mentions, commenting on the #ThrillingFormat and #InterestingAndDiverseChefs featured in the #BestCulinaryProgramOnTV.

There were also about 1,000 tweets surrounding Netflix’s Spanish-language drama Tijuana, which had viewers #BingeWatching the show that was #CaptivatingAndTrueToLife depicting #HowHardItIsToBeAJournalistInMexico.

Multishow in Brazil launched the sitcom Os Roni, about a family from the Brazilian Northeast region who leaves their small village to try their luck in São Paulo, to around 1,000 tweets as well. The #GreatPremiere had audiences #LaughingOutLoud and wanting more, #CantWaitToSeeNextEpisode.

The drama Otros Pecados on Canal 13 (El Trece) in Argentina saw around 300 tweets, with a #DividedAudience commenting about the #BadActing and #ConfusingStory, but some noted the #VeryGoodPlot and were a fan of the cast: #LoveTheMainActor.

Canal 13 Telemetro in Panama premiered Yo Me Llamo, an adaptation of My Name Is, to about 200 tweets, with buzz about the #TalentedParticipants and #AwesomeJudges in the #GreatFirstEpisode.

The youth-skewed singing competition Quiero cantar contigo on Teleamazonas in Ecuador garnered nearly 200 social media comments for the #BeautifulVoices in the #Emotional first episode.
