Of all the new programs that premiered across Latin America last month, TV Globo’s Verão 90 stirred up the most social media buzz, according to The WIT.

There were some 27,000 Facebook and Twitter comments surrounding the premiere. The Brazilian telenovela set in the ’90s about Manuela and the brothers João and Jerônimo, who were part of a successful music trio in the ’80s, was #NostalgiaPacked. Along with its #AmazingSoundtrack, the novela had viewers #Hooked.

Campanas en la noche from Telefe in Argentina saw some 10,000 comments. The telenovela, which takes place 14 years after a murder committed in Patagonia, had some of the #WorstActorsEver but was #EntertainingNevertheless thanks to its twisty plot.

Chilevision’s Invencibles, a local adaptation of the format Ireland’s Fittest Family, had around 8,000 social media comments, with viewers #RootingForMyFavFamily but not feeling the host: #AnnoyingVoiceover, #PleaseChooseAnotherHost.

With around 7,000 tweets, the fashion competition La Agencia: Batalla de modelos debuted on Caracol in Colombia to viewers #LovingTheDiverseCast of the #DramaPacked #GreatRealityShow.

The launch of the cookery competition Chef ao Pé do Ouvido on GNT in Brazil generated about 6,000 tweets. An adaptation of the Canadian format Chef in Your Ear, it features renowned chefs who have to provide recipes capable of beating those of their rivals, but then rely on novices to cook them. The audience was entertained by the #FunnyCookingShow and the novices’ lack of skills (#OMGTheyReallyCantCook) and recognized the host: #CongratsToTheYouTuberTurnedHost.

Magaly TV, La Firme debuted on ATV in Peru to some 3,000 Facebook and Twitter comments. The new version of the entertainment show that aired on ATV between 1997 and 1998 and from 2001 to 2012 had viewers #LaughingOutLoud at the #TongueInCheek entertainment.

Argentina’s Canal 13 premiered Corte y confección—colección 2019 to around 3,000 tweets as well. The fashion reality competition pits against each other 14 sewing enthusiasts, judged by three professionals. Some viewers felt it was a #GreatSewingBeeCopycat and #UnfairToHaveTwinSistersCompetingAsATeam, and wanted #LessTalkMoreActionPlease and the show to #CutTheHost.

The launch of Ringo: la pelea de su vida on Las Estrellas in Mexico stirred up some 2,000 comments. The local adaptation of the Argentinean telenovela Sos mi hombre is about a former boxer who faces new challenges in his personal life. The #TalentedLeadingActor, #InterestingPlot and #GreatSoundtrack kept viewers engaged.

Around 2,000 tweets went out surrounding the premiere of Tá Brincando on Brazil’s TV Globo. The #UpliftingVibe of the entertainment show made it #InspiringAndEntertaining, though some took issue with the host: #HostPleaseStopShouting.

TV Globo also made the list with Elis, which had around 2,000 tweets as well. The biographical miniseries charting the life and career of Elis Regina an #UnforgettableDiva with a #GreatVoice who was portrayed well on-screen: #ImpressivePerformanceByTheLeadingActress.
