ZED to Launch New Space Documentary

ZED is launching the new two-part documentary Destination Moon: The New Space Age.

Destination Moon offers a front-row seat to the Artemis program, with exclusive interviews of astronauts and engineers, spectacular cinematic CGI and real-world stakes that keep you on the edge of your seat,” said Charlotte Tachet, head of distribution and acquisitions at ZED. “A premium global event miniseries that brings the Moon closer than ever.”

Directed by Laurent Lichtenstein and Alain Brunard, the two-part documentary offers rare access to the upcoming Artemis III lunar missions. The project has already secured prebuys from SVT, RTS, RSI and AMC Southern Europe and sales across more than 15 territories to date.

After nearly four years of production, this major international co-production brings together leading public broadcasters: France Télévisions (France), NHK (Japan), ZDF Terra X (Germany) and PTS (Taiwan).

“The Artemis Program itself is the result of unprecedented international cooperation: by filming in Europe, the United States and Asia with researchers and astronauts from all walks of life, we were able to produce a film with an exceptional international scope,” said Christine Le Goff and Marion Papillon, producers at ZED.

“With its cinematic direction, high-quality CGI and valuable live-action footage and testimonials, the film transcends the conventional framework of science programming, providing viewers with an immersive experience,” said Yuko Fukuyama, senior producer of international co-productions at NHK. “This new style of documentary is distinctly different from NHK’s other programs.”
