TV Latina Screenings Festival Now Available

From outstanding romantic comedies and series with high production values to animation for the whole family and award-winning factual content, the TV Latina Screenings Festival offers something for everyone.

Changes in launch and windowing strategies were evident long before the global pandemic hit, and Covid-19 accelerated that trend. The productions featured here are positioned as compelling alternatives for programmers, delivering lighthearted love stories, thrillers, family drama and more.

Crown Media International Distribution carries a wide variety of Hallmark Channel flagship TV movies, including Raise a Glass to Love, which “features all the key ingredients that make Hallmark original films and our brand a beloved tradition in homes all over the world,” says Francisco González, senior VP of international distribution. Another highlight is South Beach Love, which “is perfect for the whole family and will surely be a fan favorite,” he says. The company is also offering Rise and Shine, Benedict Stone.

Janel Downing, VP for Latin America at All3Media International, highlights Don’t Tell the Bride, which she describes as an entertaining production that “offers many iconic marital moments.” Downing also spotlights The Love Trap, where “the dangers and pleasures of dating are well known to the Latin American public.” All3Media International also offers Date or Drop.

Turkish dramas continue to conquer audiences around the world, particularly in Latin America, where Inter Medya aims to continue expanding its presence with a catalog that includes The Trusted, “one of the most successful titles launched in 2021,” says Beatriz Cea Okan, VP and director of sales and acquisitions. The company also offers Scorpion, “which takes the audience through a completely different but powerful story,” she says. Inter Medya also features A.Riza and Last Summer.

Kanal D International is showcasing the romantic comedy Recipe of Love, about an ambitious chef; and Twist of Fate, which addresses what happens when a beautiful and superstitious young woman tries to keep her marriage fraud in order to avoid living happily ever after and working with her handsome boss, who has shut his heart to love.

Suspense has been one of the attractive genres for platforms globally, and ZDF Enterprises is offering up Sherlock: The Russian Chronicles, which follows Sherlock Holmes as he tries to track down the serial killer Jack the Ripper, who has fled to Russia. The company also presents The Window and Huss.

At the TV Latina Screenings Festival, ViacomCBS International Studios is offering international buyers Parot, a thriller set in Spain in 2013, as well as the comedy-drama Pequeñas Victorias.

Delphine Dumont, senior VP of sales, acquisitions and co-productions at Zodiak Kids, says that the preschool comedy series Mumfie “is endearing and friendly,” which is why she believes the property will be attractive to audiences. “The dialogue is always supported by attractive and bright images, with a lot of physical humor.”

Additional Zodiak Kids highlights are When I Was Your Age, geared toward children and families; Lolirock, where five princesses with magical voices sing to fight danger; and Camp Kookiness, a fun, musical children’s series about seven different children experiencing wildlife camp. Regarding Camp Kookiness, Cécile Cau, VP of sales and co-productions at Zodiak Kids, comments: “The production quality is outstanding, the cast is very talented, and the stories are rich and very current with the challenges of teens and tweens.”

Off the Fence comes to the TV Latina Screenings Festival with an offering of wildlife and history content. In Viking Empires, viewers can discover a new perspective on the Vikings while exploring the lives of these medieval warriors and merchants. In Voices of Earth, viewers will meet the people who are preserving a covenant of coexistence with nature’s wildlife while modern civilization threatens to destroy Earth’s remaining paradises.
