NBC Universo Names VP of Production & Development

MIAMI: NBC Universo has tapped production executive Fernando Gastón to serve as VP of production and development.

In this new role, Gastón will be responsible for the development and execution of production strategy that will drive ratings growth and further the channel’s brand. Gastón will report to Bilai Joa Silar, the senior VP of programming and production for NBC Universo.

He will participate in the assessment and development of entertainment properties, and contribute in tactical and strategic discussions for the channel. In addition to fostering relationships within the creative community, he will work closely with other departments to develop programming goals and oversee the production staff on creative ideation, development and execution.

Gastón previously served as the senior VP of content for MTV/VH1/Comedy Central Latin America at Viacom International Media Networks.

“Fernando brings with him more than 20 years of experience in media, production and development for both Spanish-language and English-language television,” said Silar. “His production background will give NBC Universo the upper hand in elevating productions that will raise the bar of original content in Spanish-language cable.”
