MIAMI: Cosme Lopez is leaving Cisneros Media after 15-plus years with the company, during which time he developed and expanded its pay-TV unit.

Lopez served as senior VP and general manager of pay-TV channels and services. His responsibilities in that role will be assumed by members of the Cisneros Media Distribution team under the supervision of Marcello Coltro, the executive VP of content distribution at Cisneros Media.

In 1993, Lopez began his career at the distribution company Venevision International (now Cisneros Media Distribution), before taking a position at HBO Latin America in 1997. He returned to Cisneros in 2000 as general manager of Venevision Continental, a cable channel that expanded into a business unit. He developed and established the company’s pay-TV channels and services such as Venevision Plus, VmasTV and VePlusTV in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Jonathan Blum, the president of Cisneros Media, stated, “Cosme was quite successful in leveraging the company’s production assets and proficiencies in forging strategic alliances. Just this past year, he established business partnerships with Turner Latin America to program its pay-TV channel Glitz*, and The Kitchen to operate a Spanish‐language dubbing studio at Venevision’s headquarters in Venezuela. I would only like to thank Cosme for his dedication and contributions to our company and wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
