TV Latina Screenings Festival: El señor de los cielos’s Luis Zelkowicz

Luis Zelkowicz, winner of an International Emmy for El señor de los cielos, recognized as the best U.S. non-English prime-time production, as well as Telemundo Studios’ writing director, spoke with Elizabeth Bowen-Tombari, editor of TV Latina, on the new wave of this global success.

As part of the TV Latina Screenings Festival, which you can see here, the creator spoke about the continuity of the series starring Rafael Amaya: “The goal we set for ourselves was to combine the best of the telenovela in terms of narrative with the dynamic narrative of action series. It was quite challenging. The bar was raised once we saw that it became a franchise.”

Zelkowicz also talked about the creative liberties he’s had writing stories, his work with Telemundo Global Studios and his experience nurturing new talent, among other topics.
