Globo Novela Side by Side Picked Up in China

RIO DE JANEIRO: Globo has licensed the International Emmy-winning telenovela Side by Side to CCTV in China.

Side by Side will be dubbed into Chinese and broadcast on a free-to-air channel, reaching all of China as well as Hong Kong and Macau. The series, which stars Camila Pitanga (Cat's Cradle) and Marjorie Estiano (The Life We Lead), centers on the unbreakable friendship between a daughter of former slaves and a rich young woman in Brazil during the early 20th century. It is due to debut next month.

CCTV has previously partnered with Globo, airing such hits as the classic novela Isaura-Slave Girl and the miniseries Seven Women.
