Telemundo & Universo Unveil 850-Plus Hours for 2017-18 Season

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises has revealed a lineup of more than 850 hours of new formats and multiplatform original content for Telemundo and Universo for the 2017-18 season.

Telemundo’s new prime-time programming lineup features three super series, including the return of Queen of the South (La Reina del Sur), The Lord of the Skies (El Señor de los Cielos) and The Acero Dynasty (Señora Acero, La Coyote). The lineup will also feature five new miniseries, among them a program based on the life of music icon Luis Miguel, as well as El Secreto de Selena, which tells the story behind the death of beloved Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla.

On the digital front, Telemundo is presenting the first-ever virtual reality experience for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Double Acción 52. For the first time ever, Telemundo will present the Spanish-language broadcast of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia next season. There is also the network’s first digital bilingual reality show, Love Clicks 24/7; the first-ever Hispanic Snapchat show; and two multiplatform content collaborations with BuzzFeed, with the working titles Face-Off (Frente a Frente) and SLS Weekend Wrap.

Alternative and live programming on the slate is Don Francisco Invites You (Don Francisco Te Invita), the tentatively titled The Great Opportunity (Gran Oportunidad), the Latin American Music Awards, MasterChef Latino, the Billboard Latin Music Awards and the Your World Awards.

Universo, Telemundo Enterprises’ entertainment cable channel, will bring back its proven hit “celeb-realities,” including The Riveras and Larrymania. It will also include signature series such as The Walking Dead en Español and Sons of Anarchy en Español.
