Crackle Expands Latin American Footprint

MIAMI: Sony Pictures Television has brought its Crackle online entertainment network to an additional 17 Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America.

In Latin America, Crackle can be access at crackle.com, which is then redirected to the local country sites. Titles are available in English with either dubbed or subtitled options in Spanish. With the expansion, the service now has reach in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

“Internet and video consumption rates are on the rise in all of Latin America—in Mexico alone, more than 80 percent of all online users consume video content each month according to ComScore Video Metrix. Therefore, launching in the region was of great significance to Crackle,” said Jose Rivera Font, the VP and general manager for Crackle in Latin America. “Crackle brings Latin American consumers an unparalleled viewing experience with free content programmed to fit their needs, while providing advertisers with creative online opportunities to market their brands.”

Mexico’s national bank, Banamex, will be a major network advertiser and will have category exclusivity in the banking sector for Crackle’s first year in Mexico. "Banamex prides itself on continuously participating in innovative technological arenas that benefit its customers," commented Mercedes Lopez Arratia, the digital marketing director at Banamex. "Crackle provides an entertainment content platform that creates fun and unique experiences for the kind of audiences that we want to reach, and therefore we decided to sign on."
