Programming Exec Sandra Smester Moves Up at Univision Network

MIAMI: Univision Communications has elevated seasoned programming exec Sandra Smester to executive VP of programming for Univision Network.

Smester will continue to work out of Miami under Alberto Ciurana, the president of programming and content for Univision Communications. She first joined the company in 1998 as a promotions intern. Today she supervises the entire programming block of Univision Network.

Throughout her career, Smester has produced a number of award-winning specials for the channel, including the New Year's Eve Special, El Grito de Mexico, La Virgen de Guadalupe, the Rose Parade and Premios TVyNovelas.

"Sandra is one of the most talented media executives in the industry," said Ciurana. "Her passion and commitment for our audiences is reflected in everything she does."
