Digital TV Research forecasts 40 million SVOD subscribers in Eastern Europe by 2026, up from 15 million at the end of last year.

Of the 25 million subs that will be added in the next five years, 10 million will be in Russia and 6 million in Poland.

Netflix is set to see its base grow from 4.7 million to 12.3 million in the region, with Disney+ growing to about 5.8 million. Amazon Prime will hit about 1.4 million subs, Digital TV Research projects, with newcomer HBO Max forecast to hit 1.2 million.

“There will still be plenty of room for growth beyond our forecast period, as only 17 percent of the region’s TV households will subscribe to at least one SVOD platform by 2026,” said Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research.
