Hypewriter Competition Returns at NATPE Budapest

The Hypewriter pitching competition has seen a record number of applicants in its second year, with eight projects to be judged by a diverse panel on Tuesday during NATPE Budapest.

The winning pitch will receive a 10,000 euro cash prize for writing and 110,000 euros in support for production. The pilot episode will be developed further and produced by Paprika Studios.

Hypewriter is open to applicants from all over the world, though there is a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe. This year’s Hypewriter event will take place on the Spoon boat next to the InterContinental on Tuesday, June 25.

The jury will be comprised of Stella Litou, general manager of Ant1 TV in Greece; Dave Clarke, executive VP of content for DRG and Atrium TV; Bence Trunkó, member of the board and the chief creative officer at Paprika Studios;
Péter Kolosi, deputy CEO and the director of programming at RTL Hungary; and
Omri Givon, writer, director and producer.

The winner of the first Hypewriter, The Butcher, is in production on its pilot episode. RTL Hungary will air the episode later this year. The story is written by Declan Hannigan and Andy Heffler.

Another finalist from last year’s Hypewriter, Petr Kolecko’s Hrobari, premiered on Slovakia’s JOJ TV.
