Gaumont has appointed Christian Gabela as VP of international TV co-productions, with an eye to managing and expanding partnerships in key territories such as Latin America.

Gabela joins Gaumont from Univision, where he was VP and general manager of the Story House Entertainment production division. During his tenure, he oversaw the studio’s overall strategy as well as the development, production and distribution of content that includes the Netflix originals El Chapo and Tijuana.

At Gaumont, Gabela will report to Vanessa Shapiro, president of worldwide TV distribution and co-production, and he will work closely with all of the creative executives at Gaumont in Los Angeles, Paris, London and Berlin.

Gaumont’s first Latin American co-production, El Presidente, is currently in production for Amazon Prime.

“Christian’s knowledge of TV development and production will bolster our distribution/co-production efforts in the Latin America region, where we have ten drama series in development, alongside our in-house Latin American shows,” commented Christophe Riandee, vice CEO of Gaumont. “His deep background and success with Spanish-language series will help our global team to develop new shows, relationships and partnerships.”
