HBO GO Launches on Taiwan Mobile

Warner Bros. Discovery has launched the regional streaming service HBO GO on mobiles in Taiwan through a partnership with Taiwan Mobile.

Through February 14, Taiwan Mobile is offering a special promotional annual subscription price of NT$69 per month. The regular price will be NT$90.

HBO GO features a vast selection of HBO and Max original series such as The White Lotus, Succession, The Last of Us, House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, as well as Hollywood blockbusters such as Barbie and franchises such as DC and the Wizarding World.

HBO GO’s offering also includes a selection of local HBO Asia originals. This includes The Accidental Influencer, a Taiwanese comedy drama starring Shu-Yao Kuo that will premiere exclusively on the service on February 10. It follows the life of Red Ho, whose hope for a perfect life is dashed when she is suddenly dumped by her boyfriend on her birthday. She then turns to social media to air her grievances and is met with a surprising outcome.

“This new collaboration with Taiwan Mobile will substantially grow our streaming scale in Taiwan,” said Cindy Ma, head of affiliate sales in Southeast Asia and head of commercial for Taiwan at Warner Bros. Discovery. “With thousands of hours of premium entertainment on HBO GO, customers can enjoy award-winning shows from Hollywood, as well as stories from across the region, including the upcoming original The Accidental Influencer.”

Daphne Lee, VP of new media business at Taiwan Mobile, added, “HBO GO enhances our increasingly diverse range of entertainment and, at such a competitive rate, it is great news for fans of premium content,” “By leveraging the high-speed and low-latency features of 5G, Taiwan Mobile continues to provide its users with a rich and convenient audiovisual experience.”
