Cineflix Rights has appointed ITV Studios alum Greg Johnson as executive VP of the Americas and the Asia Pacific.

In the newly created role, Johnson will lead the company’s scripted and unscripted sales strategy across North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Working alongside James Durie, head of scripted, and Richard Life, senior VP of acquisitions and co-productions, he will also be responsible for identifying creative partners and IP, as well as securing financing from U.S. and global networks.

Johnson will join the company in April from his current role as executive VP of distribution for the Americas at ITV Studios, where he led the team distributing all global partnerships content across the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Prior to that, Johnson held various roles, including senior VP of factual sales and co-productions at BBC Worldwide Americas and VP of sales for the Asia Pacific at Disney-ABC International Television.

“We are thrilled to have Greg join Cineflix Rights as we continue to build our business as the U.K.’s largest independent distributor,” said Tim Mutimer, CEO. “Greg’s exceptional expertise, entrepreneurial spirit and personality make him the perfect fit for the Cineflix Rights team, and we are looking forward to working with him to significantly grow our business.”

Johnson added, “Cineflix Rights occupies a unique position in the global distribution landscape as a supplier of premium scripted and factual content across a wide range of genres. I’m excited to be joining the dynamic team under Tim at this time in a newly created role, and to help facilitate Cineflix’s growth ambitions in the U.S. and across the globe. I look forward to working with great producers and finding key strategic partnerships and funding models that will grow Cineflix’s slate of fantastic content.”
