DISCOP Africa’s 25th Edition to Take Place in Rwanda

DISCOP organizer Basic Lead is planning to host its next in-person event from August 24 to 26, 2021, in Kigali, Rwanda.

Rwanda is aiming to become a regional leader in film, television and sports entertainment. The country also heads the International Organization de la Francophonie, which represents 84 countries where French is spoken.

DISCOP Kigali will take place at the Kigali Convention Center. Participants will stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel located inside the venue. The event is scaled to be an intimate gathering and welcome 50 international vending companies and 250-plus key players in Africa’s entertainment, media, advertising and sports industry.

The focus is on delivering high-performance face-to-face meetings centered on the sale and purchase of distribution, adaptation, branding and merchandising rights; content monetization, dubbing and delivery solutions; entertainment and sports marketing know-how. Participants will have access to year-round and personalized data management and matchmaking services driven by a team of research experts backed by impeccable data.

Sports entertainment will take center stage for three weeks overlapping the 25th edition of the DISCOP market in Africa. From August 16 to September 3, a series of 15 webcasts will navigate new sports, technologies, consumer trends and transactional models that will enrich the televised sports experience of millions of fans across Africa.

“Following the pandemic, there has been a boom in inspirational programming that explores the big questions of life,” said Patrick Zuchowicki, general manager of Basic Lead. “The use of technology and global fan machinery to drive powerful engagement amongst viewers who believe in the value of religious messages in Africa is a playbook for interactive TV content producers and programmers.”
