The next DISCOP MENA market is set to take place from December 15 to 17, having moved from the previously scheduled February 25 to 27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Co-organizers Basic Lead and Arab Broadcast Content have decided to move the event based on the results of a survey underscoring the fact that, with the Ramadan month moving every year and the ever-growing importance of Ramadan programming in the Middle East and Northern Africa, DISCOP MENA’s February dates were no longer optimal. The survey was conducted in the last three weeks and took into consideration a random sample of responses representing all sectors of MENA’s multiscreen content development, production and distribution industries.
Patrick Zuchowicki, CEO of DISCOP Markets, said: “Ten years ago, we chose to hold DISCOP MENA at the end of February at a time when Ramadan took place in the fall. By moving dates, and for the next ten years, we want to give the region’s broadcasters, premium cable channels, mobile operators and streaming platforms more time to pick and choose Ramadan content with widespread appeal in the Arabic world.”
