Viacom International Studios (VIS) has signed a first-look deal with director and screenwriter Ariel Winograd to develop and produce premium content for global audiences.

Winograd’s career spans more than 20 years in the entertainment industry. His credits include the hit movies Cara de queso -mi primer ghetto- (2006), Mi Primera Boda (2011), Vino Para Robar (2013), Sin Hijos (2015) and Permitidos (2016). His film Mamá Se Fue De Viaje (2017) has been adapted in several countries. His latest theatrical release, El Robo del Siglo (2020), a co-production with VIS and Telefe, opened January 16.

“My team and I are happy to embark on this journey with VIS and move forward with ventures that we have wanted to take on for a long time,” said Winograd. “It is very encouraging for me to work with a company in which we have found productive, creative communication, and consensus to undertake quality projects with global potential. I am grateful and excited.”

“At the core of VIS, we are content creators, and we are thrilled to have signed an agreement with Ariel leveraging his incredible creativity and talent to develop and produce quality content,” said JC Acosta, president of ViacomCBS Networks Americas. “We had the good fortune of seeing Ariel’s creative vision firsthand most recently with the box office success of El Robo del Siglo and can’t wait to work together on the next slate of projects for global audiences.”
