Viacom International Studios (VIS) Americas has struck a deal with Amazon that will see the comedy Ana, created by and starring Mexican actress Ana de la Reguera, become available for streaming on Prime Video in Latin America.

The 10×30-minute comedy is about the daughter of a Mexican beauty queen who tries to find fame and fortune as a Hollywood actor while having to fight the passage of time and the weight of her mother’s unfulfilled dreams.

The show is currently in pre-production and will soon film in Mexico. It will premiere on Comedy Central and be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video in LatAm.

“I am very excited about this new series,” said de la Reguera. “I am fascinated by the production team that I am working within and I think the series will have a bit of everything—laughter, drama, fantasy—something similar to how my life has been until now.”

“We’ve been working together with the Amazon Prime Video team since last year on different projects and Ana comes as a perfect example of our creative relationship,” said Federico Cuervo, senior VP and general director for the Americas at VIS. “It only confirms the commitment we have with them in the creation of a long-term relationship.”

Pablo Iacoviello, Amazon Prime Video’s head of content for Latin America, said: “We are elated to bring such an exciting show like Ana to our Prime Video customers. Ana de la Reguera is one of the most renowned actresses from Latin America today, and with her leading this series as both the creator and star, we know our customers are going to love this series.”
