Below you will find perspectives from major distributors on what makes these properties attractive options for broadcasters and platforms today.

International collaborations continue to define the global scripted drama business, and ZDF Studios has several in its offering, including the thriller The Window. “Created and written by BAFTA- and Emmy Award-winning screenwriter James Payne (The Musketeers, Hooten & the Lady, Mr. Selfridge), The Window is a dramatic thriller that explores the complex and dark off-field machinations of the soccer world,” says Robert Franke, VP Drama. “It is particularly pertinent in light of the upcoming major soccer events.”

While The Window is set in the difficult world of soccer, All3Media International is offering a look at showbiz with The Kardashians: Billion Dollar Dynasty. “The Kardashians are one of the most recognizable brands in the world, so I’m thrilled to offer this documentary throughout the region, which offers nostalgic entertainment and a fascinating new look at the world’s most famous family,” comments Yari Torres, VP for Latin America. Torres also highlights Black Snow, Gordon’s Future Food Stars, The Man Who Played with Fire, The Messenger and The Traitors.

Estudios RCN also has a portfolio of productions that have crossed borders with human and dramatic stories. Among them is Rigo, To Fall and Rise Again, the story of one of the most beloved and important cyclists that the Colombian mountains have produced. “Rigo is undoubtedly one of the most important productions because he is a layered character, genuine and original, full of attributes that make him universal despite being very Colombian,” explains Alexander Marín, VP of distribution. He also highlights Simply Ana, Tia Alison, Until Money Drives Us Apart and Leandro Diaz – The Eyes of the Soul.

ZDF Studios is complementing its portfolio with a range of suspense stories from Europe, including Dear Vivi, written and produced by Natalie Scharf. “Dear Vivi is a riveting thriller, an emotional mix of family drama and thriller that unravels the mystery behind the shocking murder of a wife and mother,” says Sebastian Krekeler, Director Drama.

EndemolShine Boomdog has been working on dramas with high production values. Volver a caer, inspired by Leo Tolstoy’s masterpiece, tells the story of Anna, a retired Olympic diver who has come of age in the prime of her life. “The series delves into the difficulty of finding happiness through the story of three couples who represent three very different ways of living love,” explains Jerry Rodriguez, senior VP of scripted.

From ZDF Studios, Clean Sweep stars award-winning Irish actress Charlene McKenna (Bloodlands, Peaky Blinders, Vienna Blood). “Co-produced in Ireland by one of the country’s most successful independent production companies, ShinAwiL (Dancing with the Stars Ireland, Miss Scarlet and the Duke) and Canada’s Incendo (Be Mine Valentine, Terror Train), the thriller series Clean Sweep will premiere on Sundance Now in the U.S. and RTÉ in Ireland,” says Yi Qiao, Director Drama.

Hemisphere Media Group – Snap Media aims to satisfy audience tastes with the romantic comedy Por amor al Money. “It’s a fun romantic comedy with a stellar cast headed by Cristián de la Fuente, Alejandra Espinoza, Erika de la Rosa and Armando Hernández, and the special participation of Armando Araiza, Guillermo Quintanilla and Maribel Fernández aka La pelangocha,” says Diana Coifman, VP of sales and distribution. She also highlights the family film Help, I Shrunk My Friends.

Martial arts lovers will be able to view The Way of the Dragon, starring Bruce Lee and part of Sato Company’s portfolio. “On July 20, 2023, Bruce Lee will mark 50 years of his legacy. We have five films and a television series of this incredible martial arts talent impacting generations,” says Nelson Sato, CEO. “Sato Company is also offering the best K-Pop of the world: BTS concerts, realities and documentaries.”

For fans of reality TV, EndemolShine Boomdog offers MasterChef Celebrity, the culinary competition in search of the best chef/celebrity in Mexico, who will win a prize of 1 million pesos. “This season features Claudia Lizaldi as the new host, the return of judge Adrián Herrera, and the integration of new and excellent judges: Chef Zahie Tellez and Chef Alfonso Cadena, both with a very demanding palate,” says Frank Scheuermann, senior VP of unscripted.

Meanwhile, ZDF Studios complements its catalog with Feelings. Relocated from the city to a secluded village deep in a mystical forest, 16-year-old social misfit Alva is far from pleased with her new surroundings. That is until she befriends 17-year-old self-assured Esma, and as her feelings toward Esma intensify, Alva realizes she’s in love.

“Teenage Alva goes through friendship and love in an isolated village deep in a mystical forest, as the line between reality and fantasy begins to blur,” comments Susanne Frank, Director Drama. She also highlights the epic production Boundless.

TelevisaUnivision presents the six-episode premium series Montecristo. The production tells the story of Alejandro Montecristo, an enigmatic figure who bursts into the public eye and raises concerns among the world’s elite because the origin of his fortune and his past are unknown. The company also exhibits Travesuras de la niña mala.
