Telemundo Names New SVP for Sports

MIAMI: Telemundo Media has promoted Eli Velazquez to senior VP of sports, moving up from the VP post.

Velazquez continues to be based in Miami and report to Jorge Hidalgo, the executive VP of Telemundo Sports. He will be overseeing all sports programming and operations for the network, and adds to his remit responsibility for leading the strategic initiatives related to domestic growth, integration of the department's content beyond broadcast and helping to develop new ways to evolve the Telemundo Sports brand across multiple platforms. Velazquez also takes on new responsibilities related to planning and collaborating on major events across divisions within Telemundo Media.
