SÃO PAOLO: Scripps Networks Latin America has appointed seasoned media exec Mauro Páez-Pumar as the company's VP of affiliate sales, a newly created position.

In his new role, Páez-Pumar will work out of Miami under Márcio Fonseca, the managing director of Scripps Networks Latin America. He is charged with maximizing distribution for all of the company's brands in the region, identifying and developing sales opportunities and partnerships, and supervising the implementation of affiliate sales and marketing strategies.

Earlier in his career, Páez-Puma was the chief commercial officer for AMC Networks International Latin America, where he handled all affiliate operations, sales and distribution in the region. Before that, he was the VP of key accounts at LAPTV, a partnership of FOX, MGM and Paramount.

"Following the launch of Food Network in Brazil this month, we are continuing to build our team dedicated to growing Scripps Networks' brands across the region," said Fonseca. "Mauro is a talented and well-respected executive with an excellent track record of developing new business ventures in the pay-TV industry in Latin America, and it is his vast experience that makes him such a valuable addition to our team."
