The scripted series Pepe’s Beach Bar (Chiringuito de Pepe), originally produced in Spain, has been licensed for a Mexican adaptation.

Imagina International Sales inked an agreement with Imagen Televisión for a Mexican version, tentatively titled Changarrito de Pepe. The local adaptation will have 60 episodes.

The show was originally produced by Mediaset España together with Mediapro Group’s 100 Balas. It was broadcast on Telecinco in prime time.

Pepe’s Beach Bar tells the story of a world-famous chef who, all of a sudden, must refloat his father’s beach bar business, without the latter being aware that he is the son he never knew he had.

“We are pleased to announce the Mexican adaptation of Pepe’s Beach Bar,” said Aurelio Valcárcel, Imagen Televisión’s fiction production manager. “At the moment, we are starting the process of choosing the actors that will play the leading roles in this great story that we are convinced will touch the hearts of the Mexican audience in a special way.”

“We are delighted to be able to work with Imagen Televisión and we feel fortunate that they are offering to put their huge talent in the service of a project as important for us as an adaptation of Pepe’s Beach Bar for the Mexican audience. We are convinced this wonderful story will achieve in Mexico the incredible audience share it achieved in Spain,” said Beatriz Setuain, Imagina International Sales’ managing director.
