Pair of Programming Execs Join Telemundo Media

MIAMI: Telemundo Media has hired Jesús Torres Viera as executive VP of programming and content and Daniel Cubillo as VP of content development for non-scripted, a newly created role.

Torres Viera will work under Emilio Romano, the president of Telemundo Media. As the executive VP of programming and content, he will develop and execute the company’s overall programming, content and scheduling strategy. He will also be in charge of the content rollout strategy across media platforms as well as program planning and development and promotional scheduling. Prior to his appointment, Torres Viera was a partner and consultant for Jtvmedia and Ploptv.

Reporting to Torres Viera, Cubillo will be expected to identify and develop variety and unscripted content for the network. He will also manage the greenlight process for all original non-scripted programs, among other duties. Cubillo previously served as a content manager and creative director for Univision Studios, where he was an executive producer and creative director for a number of reality shows, including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Mira Quien Baila.

Both appointments are based in Miami and are effectively immediately.

"Jesús and Daniel have extensive production experience and proven track records in content development," said Romano. "Jesús is a well-respected industry leader who has a deep understanding of the multi-platform TV experience and Daniel is one of television’s most sought after and creative producers whose vision will be an important part of our growth in the years ahead. These roles are pivotal to Telemundo’s ongoing success and a great addition to the executive team."
