New SVP of Programming for Univision Network

MIAMI: Sandra Smester, who first joined Univision Communications nearly two decades ago, has become the senior VP of programming for Univision Network.

In her new post, Smester will supervise the day-to-day scheduling and strategic positioning of all on-air content. She will work out of Miami under Alberto Ciurana, the president of programming and content for Univision Networks.

Throughout her career with the company, Smester is credited with contributing to Univision’s growth. She has managed the production of a number of successful specials, such as Univision’s New Year’s Eve Special, El Grito de Mexico, the Rose Parade and Premios TVyNovelas.

"Sandra is an extremely talented and accomplished media executive whose work ethic and programming experience have been instrumental to Univision Network’s success," noted Ciurana. "Her passion for our content and our audience is evident in everything she does and is an inspiration for our teams."
