New Programming VP at BBC Worldwide Channels Latin America & U.S. Hispanic

LONDON/MIAMI: Gareth Williams has been named the VP of programming for Latin American and U.S. Hispanic market at BBC Worldwide Channels.

Previously, Williams served as the company’s senior VP of content and production in South America. 

As the VP of programming, Williams will be in charge of program strategy, production and scheduling for the local channels, including BBC Entertainment, BBC HD and CBeebies. He will also be tasked with expanding the network’s portfolio and managing the programming team in Mexico City, Miami and Sao Paulo.
 
Williams, who starts his new position at the end of the month, will work in the Miami-based office under Angel Peche, the department’s acting general manager.
 
David Weiland, BBC Worldwide’s senior VP of programming and TV channels, said, “Gareth has a perfect CV for this role. He has a deep knowledge of the BBC’s output as well as other British programming, coupled with an extensive network of contacts throughout the BBC and BBC Worldwide. He comes to the role at an exciting time as we are expanding our presence in this market.”
