Viacom International Studios (VIS) and Chile’s Mega Media are teaming up for a Latin American adaptation of the MTV format Stranded With a Million Dollars.

Filmed in Chile, the 95-part Resistiré will premiere in March on Mega in Chile and MTV across the region. It will follow 24 adventurers from Latin America and Europe as they fight to survive in the Andes without water, food, a roof or shelter, but with half a million dollars in cash

“I am pleased to be able to foster our relationship with Mega in Chile through this new co-production agreement,” said Pierluigi Gazzolo, president of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Americas. “Our purpose with Viacom International Studios is to continue to create captivating content for our audiences, and having partners like Mega allows us to bring this new format to Latin America for the first time.”

“We will have celebrities but most of them are not famous,” added Ignacio Corvalán, executive producer of Mega Media. “We decided to include celebrities who have never participated in a reality show and we are letting the other participants surprise us based on something, their personalities, their beauty, their history. For example, we have a construction worker who became famous, an insurance salesman who is also an actor, a boxing lover, a rapper, an actor, the son of a millionaire, and a survivor of a tragedy, among others.”

Tiago Worcman, senior VP and brand manager for MTV and entertainment brands for VIMN Americas, added: “With Resistiré, MTV’s new provocative and ambitious survival reality show, we are creating a genuinely international project, coupled with participants from diverse backgrounds and countries in Latin America and Europe. We are working very closely with our partner Mega to transform this international format into a real success for the region, which resonates with our audiences.”
