MIPTV Spotlight: SOMOS Distribution

CANNES: Hasta Que te Conocí, presented by SOMOS Distribution, tells the rags-to-riches story of Mexican singer Juan Gabriel.

The project was developed by SOMOS Productions, Disney Media Distribution Latin America and the singer. “His life is so attractive that sometimes it seems as if it were a fictional story,” says Francisco Villanueva, the VP and COO of SOMOS Distribution.

The company also arrives at the market with Turkish dramas it hopes to sell across Latin America, including Kanal D’s Mercy and TRT’s The Poor Boy and the Rich Girl. Further highlights include Strange Love, an Indian drama, and Televisió de Catalunya’s telenovela Merlin. “These titles represent some of the genres that are being received very well by audiences worldwide in this era of global television,” says Villanueva.

“We focus on bringing and identifying innovative and high-quality content at a time when there is an overabundance of programming options,” Villanueva says.
