Karen Barroeta has been named executive VP of production and development at Telemundo Global Studios, a newly created role.

Barroeta will report directly to Marcos Santana, president of Telemundo Global Studios, and will be responsible for leading the development strategy of the Studios, along with the management and execution of long-form scripted productions across all platforms. Barroeta will also oversee the alternative content team and identify projects for pilots, behind the scene productions and digital capsules.

“Karen’s proven track record across multiple leadership roles at Telemundo makes her the ideal person for this new role,” said Santana. “She is among the very best in the industry and has played an essential role in Telemundo’s success as a forward-thinking, results-driven executive who has led growth businesses, as well marketing and programming initiatives domestically and abroad. I am proud to have her join our Studios leadership to help us continue evolving our content portfolio as the largest U.S.-based production studio for Latinos in the U.S. and around the world.”

Claudia Chagui has been appointed senior VP of marketing and creative, succeeding Barroeta’s previous role. She reports directly to Ronald Day, executive VP of entertainment at Telemundo.

“I am thrilled to welcome Claudia, a veteran marketer and highly regarded media professional who has effectively led marketing and communications strategies for major brands in the U.S. and international markets,” said Day. “Her deep understanding of our viewer, coupled with her unique combination of strategic insights and creative thinking, will further strengthen our network’s ability to serve Latino audiences and further enhance their connection with our brand and programming across linear and digital platforms.”
