TEL AVIV: Brazil’s Globo has ordered a second season of Superstar, the local adaptation of Keshet International’s talent-show format Rising Star.

The 14-episode second run is set to air in 2015. Superstar was the first international adaptation of the format, which allows viewers to vote for contestants using a free app developed by Keshet and Screenz. The first season ended July 6, peaking with a 33 percent share and 3 million votes.

“We are thrilled that Superstar will shine brightly again in Brazil with a second season,” said Alon Shtruzman, the CEO of Keshet International. “We will always have a special place to the first stop of Rising Star's international journey, and for our partnership with the brilliant team at Globo. Superstar's success is a testament to the fact that audiences around the world are embracing a new form of TV viewing and the ability to be a significant part of the show and influence it in real time.”

“We do everything at Globo with passion and care and we are always searching for innovative formats to diversify our programming grid,” said director J. B. de Oliveira. “The national success of Superstar, transcending beyond television and changing the national scenario of the music industry, represents an important contribution for our constant search for quality.”
