FOX Sports Latin America Signs Five-Year Deal for F1

FOX Sports Latin America has scored the exclusive broadcasting rights on TV and digital platforms for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in Latin America for the next five years.

From 2018 until 2022, the agreement sees FOX Sports, FOX Sports 3 and FOX Premium Action gaining access to all the practice and qualifying sessions, as well as all the races—a total of 21 in 2018—that represent more than 300 hours of live broadcasting. The new Formula 1 season kicks off with the 2018 Rolex Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, which will take place in Melbourne on March 25.

Original productions such as El Show de la Formula 1, GP1 and Circuito Fox Sports are covered as well. In addition, racing fans will be able to enjoy all the action of the FIA Formula 2 Championship and GP3 Series on FOX Sports.

In addition to certain digital rights, Formula 1 has retained the right to license live free-to-air coverage of any races that take place within the region in the relevant market and delayed FTA highlights everywhere else in the region.

“We are happy to have such a relevant property as Formula 1 back on FOX Sports in our robust Motorsport content proposal,” said Carlos Martínez, the president of FOX Networks Group Latin America. “We’re thankful to Formula 1 for trusting FOX Sports and our team to broadcast F1 to more than 45 million Spanish-speaking homes in Latin America. This property complements our strong racing offer, together with Formula E, World Rally Championship, WEC, 24 hours of Le Mans and the Dakar Rally. The passion of Latin American fans for car racing makes this category key to our content offering, and we will contribute with our know-how to make the experience of living it in our portfolio unbeatable.”

Ian Holmes, director of media rights for Formula 1, said: “We are very happy to have FOX Sports as a partner in Latin America for the next five years. This new agreement represents a great opportunity and will allow us to bring the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in 19 countries throughout South and Central America, where Formula 1 has a strongly established tradition as well as huge potential to gather and galvanize new fans.”
