DRG Scores Sales in Latin America

LONDON: As NATPE kicked off in Miami, DRG announced a host of deals in Latin America, including securing slots for Choccywoccydoodah and Injustice.

Fox Latin American Channels has picked up seasons two and three of the factual-entertainment series Choccywoccydoodah, produced by Twofour for UKTV’s Good Food. The network has also secured the design series Home by Novogratz, a Left Right production for HGTV in the U.S.

Pramer in Latin America secured the ITV prime-time thrillers Injustice, produced by Injustice Films for ITV1, and STV Productions’ Rebus based on the best-selling detective novels by Ian Rankin. In addition, Globosat in Brazil has acquired a 40-hour package that includes two hit series from Australia—The Stafford Brothers, a reality series produced by WD Entertainment, and ABC1’s black comedy series Laid, produced by Porchlight Films.

Yups, a new channel from Telefónica Media Networks Latin America, picked up My Almost Famous Family, produced by BBC Productions for CBBC in the U.K.; Paradise Café season two, a co-production by Endemol/Initial UK and The Gibson Group; Jinx, produced by Kindle Entertainment for CBBC; and Totally Frank from Endemol/Initial for Channel 4 in the U.K.

Carolina den Baas, the senior sales executive for Latin America at DRG, said, “Latin America is a key region and offers a wealth of opportunities for a multi-genre catalogue owner like DRG. We are thrilled to have secured these important broadcast deals with some of the major networks at the start of NATPE 2012.”
