MIAMI: The iconic Roast franchise is being brought to Latin America for the first time ever, with Comedy Central’s Roast of Hector Suarez.

The special will be taped in Mexico City in May. The Mexican comedian Hector Suarez is the region’s first roastee. The channel reaches more than 18 million households in Latin America across cable operators such as DIRECTV, Sky, Cablevision, Megacable, Cablemás, VIVO, OITV and ClaroTV.

“When Comedy Central approached me for this project, I fell in love with the idea,” commented Suarez. “I know I’m setting myself up for disaster—it’s the perfect opportunity for my friends and colleagues to get candid. Who knows what will happen!”

“Hector Suarez is a comedic genius whose legacy and creative style has influenced generations of comedians and entertained audiences for decades,” added Federico Cuervo, the brand manager of Comedy Central Latin America. “His enthusiasm over the project is inspiring, but I’ve apologized to him in advance for the plethora of insults and mockery that will take place that evening.”

“It’s amazing the great acceptance that Comedy Central has had in Mexico and Latin America,” said Eduardo Lebrija, the senior VP and director-general of VIMN The Americas for Mexico. “This successful format is not only a great success as a local production in the region, but it also brings new challenges and presents a great opportunity to explore new marketing in a multiplatform manner.”
