SÃO PAULO: The two-day Brazil TV Forum kicked off today at the World Trade Center in São Paulo, bringing together 70 speakers and a slew of participants representing both local and international pay- and free-TV channels.

This year’s theme is the type of television that the Brazilian market wants to build for the future. The forum’s schedule includes ten panels exploring the main issues related to business models, financing production, market growth, quality and content. There will also be workshops on business and regulatory issues, meetings with production and programming executives from leading national and foreign pay-TV networks, business conferences, as well as the presentation of success stories in the production of television content.

One of the guest speakers is Ralph Rivera, the director of BBC Future Media and one of the world’s leading experts on digital platforms. Rivera will showcase the several innovations that the BBC has been working on, including interactivity, second screen, TV Everywhere and VOD.

International television executives will also be present, demonstrating how Israel, Turkey and Portugal are positioning themselves in the global market as major producers of scripted content, formats and full productions.

Additional attendees include Juca Ferreira and Sérgio Sá Leitão, local authorities on the audiovisual world.

The forum, currently in its 15th year, takes place today and tomorrow.
