Eastern Europe OTT Revenues Set for Strong Gains

OTT TV and movie revenues from across 22 Eastern European markets will rise from $1.4 billion last year to $3.6 billion in 2025, according to Digital TV Research.

Russia is set to account for 40 percent of the region’s OTT revenues by then, with Poland at 27 percent.

By platform, meanwhile, SVOD will generate the majority (57 percent) at $2.05 billion, with 34 percent coming from Poland and 30 percent from Russia. AVOD will account for $1.02 billion in revenues, a tremendous gain from the $383 million in 2019.

“Poland will remain the SVOD revenue leader despite having a lot lower population than Russia,” said Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research. “Russian operators charge less than their Polish equivalents. Russia has more SVOD subscriptions than Poland.”
