RTVE Set to Bring Full International Slate to NATPE

RTVE is set to present a wide range of dramas at NATPE, including Malaka and Promises of Sand (Promesas de Arena), as well as documentaries and international channels.

Malaka, a police thriller, revolves around the disappearance of the daughter of an important businessman from Málaga and the appearance of the new drug “Gold,” which threatens to upset the balance between two rival drug clans. Promises of Sand, meanwhile, is a story of love and friendship pushed to the limit.

Also on the drama slate is The Hunt, Monteperdido (La caza. Monteperdido), a psychological thriller that picks up five years after two 11-year-old girls vanished without a trace from a village in the Pyrenees, and one of them reappears. The second season, The Hunt, Tramuntana (La caza. Tramuntana), will be set on the island of Mallorca.

Central Market (Mercado Central) is a daily drama set in a market in a working-class neighborhood of a major city, which is threatened by real estate development. It’s the backdrop for the working, family and personal relationships of the people who work there.

RTVE will also be showing its catalog of fiction content, including series such as seasons two of A Different View (La Otra Mirada), season three of I’m Alive (Estoy Vivo), three seasons of The Department of Time (El Ministerio del Tiempo), Betrayal (Traición), El Continental and Detectives (Sabuesos). There is also a catalog of daily dramas on offer from the company.

In documentaries, RTVE also has a wide range of titles covering a diversity of subjects in history, culture, music and nature. Among its latest productions are: Joan Tarragó: the Librarian of Mauthausen (Joan Tarragó: El bibliotecario de Mauthausen), which tells the story behind the few hidden book in the titular concentration camp; D Team: The Forgotten Codes (Equipo D. Los Códigos Olvidados), which follows the Spanish scientists who helped decipher Germany’s “Enigma” machine; and Spanish Skies (Los Cielos Españoles), a journey through history to trace the whereabouts of the 83 Mudejar ceilings bought in Spain at the beginning of the 20th century.

RTVE is also presenting a portfolio of international channels that includes STAR HD, the children’s channel Clan and Playz, which has been designed for digital content and Gen Z viewers.
