Rai Com Touts 25 New Shows for MIPCOM

New seasons of returning hits as well as brand-new titles lead Rai Com’s slate of MIPCOM highlights, which includes Inspector Coliandro (L’ispettore Coliandro).

Rai Com is bringing a second season of Inspector Coliandro to Cannes. David Bogi, Rai Com’s head of international distribution and business development, highlights the series’ “stylish but always slightly offbeat visual language and general sardonic mood.”

Also on offer on the scripted side are new episodes of Detective Montalbano and the second seasons of Close Murders (Non Uccidere) and The Ladies Paradise (Il Paradiso delle Signore). The second season of Close Murders (Non Uccidere) “continues to provide police procedurals with a twist, featuring a strong female protagonist,” according to Bogi. “Over the past decade, Italy has greatly contributed to a revival of the TV crime-series genre that bears the creative stamp of specific directors.”

Arts and culture also feature prominently for Rai Com, with the documentary Italy: An Open-Air Treasure, highlighting UNESCO World Heritage sites, hosted by Alberto Angela.

The company is also showcasing feature films with two titles that recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival: Love and Bullets (Ammore e Malavita), a Mafia musical, and Holding Hands (La Tenerezza).

Of its 370-title catalog, 25 are new to the market. “MIPCOM continues to be one of the most important markets worldwide for our content,” Bogi notes. “It is a big opportunity to extend the international visibility and accessibility of great Italian content that has universal appeal.”
