Rai Com Presenting Varied Slate at MIPCOM

The lineup of titles that Rai Com is bringing to MIPCOM ranges from comedy and drama series to feature films and documentaries, including Our Pope from Red Film.

The 72-minute one-off tells the story of Pope Francis from an unusual point of view. Based on the eponymous book by Tiziana Lupi, Our Pope was made with the collaboration of Istituto Luce-Cinecittà and the Argentine society Lazos de Sangre.

Also on the unscripted slate is the 12-part series Meraviglie 2, which takes the viewer on a tour of Italy. This journey is an opportunity to show the things that men and women of Italy constructed and preserved in centuries past. Narcotica, a crime-investigation five-parter from Rai 3 and Tg3, delves into the sordid world of drug trafficking across the world, from Colombia to Mexico. Unfiltered is a docuseries that presented unfiltered investigations of the world we live in, from the environmental impact of fashion industries, drug abuse, the chemicals present in food and air, life in our hyper-connected reality and climate change.

In regards to Rai Fiction’s offer, Rai Com is taking to international distribution ten brand-new series, including Commissario Ricciardi, which is based on Maurizio de Giovanni’s successful novels. It follows a young detective in 1930s Naples who cannot bear to leave a case unsolved.

Also on the fiction slate are the drama Live and Let Live, about a woman who discovers her husband is living a double life; Escape from Mafia, a period drama that follows a family migrating out of Sicily; the first four seasons of Ladies’ Paradise Daily; the comedy The Nest, which addresses various social issues; seasons one and two of Back Home, a contemporary drama that takes place on a farm; Piaggio, the story of the eponymous inventor of the Vespa scooter; and Singing Mates, which tells the story of a young boy from Southern Italy who finds himself through music.

Rai Com is also bringing various performing arts specials, including various operas, ballets and concerts, to MIPCOM, in collaboration with the major Italian opera houses. Amongst them are: the opera Le Vespres Siciliennes, ECUBA by Nicola Antonio Manfroce and performances of Christmas Concert 2019, Manon Lescaut, The Sleeping Beauty, Masnadieri and Cavalleria Rusticana.

The feature films available from Rai Com are If Only, an emotional comedy telling the story of three very close siblings; Ordinary Happiness, which sees a man who dies in a car accident get an extra hour and half of life back; Volare, a dramedy that follows a man as he discovers the various members of his quirky family.
