BBC Studios has named Geo Lee as senior VP and general manager for Northeast Asia.

Lee is based in the Seoul office and oversees the BBC Studios business in South Korea and Japan. He reports to David Weiland, executive VP of Asia. Lee joins BBC Studios from Amazon Japan, where he headed the TVOD division. He previously held senior positions at Hulu, Twentieth Century Fox and Tsutaya in Japan.

“Geo brings with him a wealth of digital, marketing, theatrical and production experience from the U.S., Korea, and most recently Japan, that will be beneficial in further developing our business in Northeast Asia,” said Weiland. “I look forward to working with him.”

Lee said: “I have joined the organisation at a very interesting juncture of its growth—the merger of BBC Worldwide and BBC Studios brings together the U.K.’s most awarded production business and a world-class commercial distribution business. I am very excited to be part of this change and look forward to working with the team to drive content, channel, format and digital sales, as well as developing more partnership opportunities in the region.”
