A new Parks Associates study shows that average consumer spending on OTT services doubled from $8 per month in 2018 to $16 in early 2020.

The report also indicates that 45 percent of traditional pay-TV homes in the U.S. are likely to switch to a virtual MVPD in the next 12 months.

“Today’s video services market is in a historic state of disruption and disarray,” said Paul Erickson, senior analyst at Parks Associates. “Our Q3 2020 survey finds 29 percent of current subscribers to traditional pay TV are unhappy with the price and value of their service, and vMVPDs are seeking to address that need with a variety of different bundles and value propositions.”
