Nielsen: Number of U.S. TV Households Up for 2016-17 Season

NEW YORK: Nielsen has estimated the number of U.S. TV homes will increase for the first time in two years, to a total of 118.4 million.

The number of persons age 2 and older in U.S. TV households is estimated to be 301.7 million, which represents an increase of 1.6 percent from last year. Increases in U.S. Hispanic, African American and Asian households were also seen, due to estimated increases in population growth and TV penetration.

The percentage of total U.S. homes with televisions receiving traditional TV signals via broadcast, cable, DBS or Telco, or having a broadband internet connection is currently at 96 percent, an increase of 0.8 percent from last year’s estimate.
