NEW YORK: Spike has greenlit a 30-episode fifth season of its original show Bar Rescue, as well as ten Back to the Bar specials and a late-night talk show pilot from series star Jon Taffer.

The fifth season of Bar Rescue is slated to debut on August 7 at 9 p.m. In Bar Rescue, Taffer travels the country, putting his 30-plus years of experience in the restaurant, bar and nightclub business to work to help failing establishments transform themselves into profitable businesses. In season five, Taffer will help bars in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Palm Springs and Seattle, among other cities. The series is produced by 3 Ball Entertainment (Extreme Weight Loss, My Cat from Hell) and executive produced by Taffer.

The ten new Back to the Bar specials will air on Sunday nights throughout the run of the fifth season of Bar Rescue. These where-are-they-now-style specials will continue to revisit infamous bars from the series’ past. Back to the Bar features new, never-before-seen footage of Taffer’s experts checking back in at previously rescued bars and revisits confrontations between Taffer and some of the owners.

In addition, as part of its first-look agreement with Taffer, Spike has ordered a late-night talk-show pilot. The untitled pilot will be produced by 3 Ball Entertainment.
