Univision Ups Isaac Lee to Head Entertainment Units

NEW YORK: Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) has named Isaac Lee to the newly created position of chief news, entertainment and digital officer.

In this role, Lee will be responsible for UCI’s news, entertainment and digital content across platforms, as well as the company’s music efforts. He will continue to oversee FMG, which includes UCI’s interests in Fusion and El Rey, as well as The Root, The Onion, A.V. Club, Clickhole, Flama, Univision Digital and Univision Music.

Additionally, he is leading the search that is underway for UCI’s new president of Entertainment, a position that will report to Lee.

He will continue to report to Randy Falco, president and CEO of UCI.

Lee will continue to work closely with Televisa, and will also continue to develop the newly launched Storyhouse, UCI’s development and production arm led by Camila Jimenez-Villa and Juan Rendon, which recently announced the co-production of a series with Netflix, El Chapo. Lee will also oversee UCI’s joint venture with Patricio Wills, W Studios.

Lee joined UCI in December 2010 as president of news after two decades as a journalist, and most recently held the position of chief news and digital officer, where he spearheaded the company’s digital expansion and the creation of the Fusion Media Group, with the acquisition of The Root and the strategic investments in Fusion and The Onion.

“Univision continues to evolve and drive innovation and I am confident that in this new role Isaac will further align our content and platform teams to strategically drive growth and engagement,” said Falco. “The rapid pace of change in the industry requires us at Univision to continually disrupt the media landscape and I am confident that our leadership team will continue to focus on our mission, on serving our diverse audiences and on leading in the industry.”

“We have successfully transformed Univision into a multimedia industry leader and I look forward to working with our leadership team to further elevate our efforts and compete—and win—across platforms,” said Lee. “No one is better positioned than UCI to super-serve a diverse, rising America.”
