Univision Celebrates 50 years of Sábado Gigante

NEW YORK: This Saturday Univision Network is hosting a 50th anniversary celebration for the variety show Sábado Gigante, with four hours of special coverage.

The celebration kicks off at 7 p.m. on October 27 with a red carpet broadcast. Lourdes Stephen, co-host of Sal y Pimienta; Raúl de Molina and Lili Estefan, co-hosts of El Gordo y la Flaca; and Karla Martínez and Raul Gonzalez, co-hosts of Despierta América, will be on the red carpet to greet celebrities and introduce clips from their best appearances on the show.

From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. the network will run a special anniversary program, hosted by the series’ creator, Don Francisco. This will feature a number of international celebrities, viewers who will share their personal connections to the show and a range of musical acts.

From 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. the guests will gather for a special gala commemorating the show. Attendees will participate in some of the show’s most popular and traditional games. The winners will donate their prizes to various charitable organizations.
