NEW YORK: The digital edition of TV Brasil for ABTA is now online, featuring a report on original programming for pay TV and interviews with Tuner’s Anthony Doyle and FOX International Channels’ Gustavo Leme. View the digital edition here.

The special feature highlights that, of the 21 most-watched pay-TV shows in 2013, nine are domestic productions. The Brazilian government attributes this success to the Law 12.485, which was created in 2011 and implemented in 2012, as effectively changing the programming schedules of pay-TV channels in Brazil in 2013. The pay-TV channels attribute the success to a trend that had already been identified long before the law came into effect: Brazilians like domestic productions, and they like to watch TV in Portuguese and see themselves represented on screen. The fact remains that the number of original productions in Brazil has increased significantly.
