LONDON: Lifetime Latin America has inked a deal with FremantleMedia International (FMI) to become the home of the Project Runway franchise in Latin America.

A new pan-regional broadcast agreement will see more than 100 hours of programming from the franchise, produced by The Weinstein Company, airing on Lifetime Latin America. This includes episodes from season 11 onwards of the flagship show. The deal also covers all three seasons of Project Runway: Junior and the first season of the franchise extension Fashion Startup.

Sheila Aguirre, the executive VP of content distribution and format sales for LatAm, the Caribbean and Hispanic U.S., said: “This deal underscores the prominence of the Project Runway franchise as one of the best-performing fashion entertainment shows in the market. The fact that both the finished seasons and the format are proving to be enduringly popular is testament to its resonance with global audiences, and FMI’s ability to offer exhilarating content to the Hispanic and Latin American markets.”

Eddy Ruiz, the president and general manager of A+E Networks Latin America, said: “We are very proud and pleased to claim ownership of the successful franchise that is Project Runway in Latin America. We are certain that Project Runway: Junior and Fashion Startup will create a unique and powerful multimedia fashion franchise within Lifetime, as it is in the United States, to create the proper connection with all of our users: sponsors, affiliates and viewers.”
