By 2025, Latin America will have 81 million SVOD subscribers, almost twice as many as the numbers recorded last year, according to Digital TV Research.

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+ and HBO will account for 88 percent of LatAm’s paying SVOD subscribers by the end of 2025. “These U.S.-based players will grow but the local platforms will stall,” said Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research. “Claro Video is often available free to its top spending mobile subscribers. Telefonica/Movistar may sell its remaining non-Brazilian assets.”

Netflix will account for more than half (52 percent) of the region’s SVOD subs in 2025, down from 75 percent last year, with about 42.5 million customers, followed by Disney+ with about 15 million and Amazon with 10 million.
