Discovery en Español to Air Current-Affairs Content

MIAMI: In the weeks leading up to the presidential election, Discovery en Español plans to broadcast programming focused on the issues that are important to U.S. Hispanics.

The channel is launching two new original documentaries, Caras del odio and Desamparados. The former, scheduled to air on October 28 at 9 p.m., centers on hate crimes against Hispanics. The latter, which will premiere on November 4 at 9 p.m., examines Hispanic families trying to make ends meet during challenging financial times.

Other current-affairs programming on Discovery en Español will include Objetivo el norte, a documentary about the immigration debate; and La ruta de la muerte, which focuses on the dangerous journey of a group of migrants traveling to the U.S. These original productions will debut on October 28 at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., respectively.

The channel will also be broadcasting Deportados, an inside look at the country’s largest detention center, and Viviendo en la sombra, which profiles the struggles of illegal immigrants. These titles are slated for November 4 at 10 p.m and 11 p.m., respectively.
